Sometimes doesn't give a solution as to why pass or fail. Often the solution is to put rooks in danger to protect knights, which makes no sense. There is no way to simply look at the solution, you have to fail 3 times before it lets you know.

They do not tell you about the charge until after you set up an account. The term in app purchases is not the same as you must subscribe to play. I find this to be dishonest.
