I was hoping to love this keyboard because gboard just destroyed itself on its last update. but I really hate that it's all in English letters. there's no setting to switch back and forth between Japanese characters and English letters. and that was the one thing I liked about gboard until they removed that. also scrolling through the kanji is very limited and it was frustrating using it to find a specific character that wasn't listed.

This app is really cool because you can type everything out in romaji and choose the desired characters. However, the keyboard is not very intuitive when it comes to suggestions. Many times in order to get just one kata symbol I have to write out a different word that includes it, delete what I don't need, and splice it into place. This is a pain in the ass. Secondly, sometimes it will only give one option for translation. If I type in "su" it will only give す and not ス. Just recently, if I backspace after typing a word, it will delete the character, but then paste my romaji spelling onto the end, creating a lot more work. This app is amazing and at the forefront of japanese keyboard apps, but the bugs it has affect the most important functions, so it's really frustrating to use right now.

This is a great keyboard! It gives you the option of choosing hiragana, katakana and/or kanji after you type the romaaji. And if you want to revert back to English keyboard, just tap one button (the あ button on the keyboard). That easy! Zero ads, and it's customizable (you can change keyboard style). Been using it for about a week, no problems whatsoever, and it's been very useful in my studies. 😄
