To be honest, this series was not at ALL what I was expecting. I thoroughly enjoyed the No-Holds-Bar style of writing and I found myself absolutely captivated and craving more as I finished each book and moved onto the next. I think it takes a lot for an author to just write a good book/series without worrying about offending people and catering to this ridiculous society we live in. Thank you, Jason, for keeping me entertained and captivated while I'm doing my chores. You are a real one, man!

There are a few good turns of phrase, a few funny moments. The protagonist continuously tells you just how crazy things are getting and sets up a lot of stuff that never goes anywhere. The offensive "jokes" and racial slurs got really old. The book is nowhere near clever or funny enough to get away with it. I know this was written in the aughts but it's on a level that is bad even for then.

This book is still a great absurdist/horror/sci-fi adventure with a decidedly Lovecraftian flair that is way deeper than it appears to be on the surface. It might just get you contemplating the meaning of universe and an questioning how everything works.
