The app is the only way to save money with the heat pump/electric water heater. setting the schedule is super simple and you can have it different for every day of the week or the same. completely customizable. we had trouble connecting to wifi, so we had to add a 2.4 ghz network to our router. thats also verysimple once you know it's an option. the only thing missing in my opinion is the current water temp. Instead, the app shows how full the tank is. I don't really understand that conversion.

Pretty bare bones app providing information on the health of the unit and energy consumption. What is bad: 1) I have had the unit beep and send me emails and texts with specific error codes and direction to contact Rheem support. But you would never know it from the app which happily declares all is good. 2) incomplete controls of disabling energy saving features during peak usage. Had to go to unit. What is missing: I would like to see more granular data viewing and export capabilities.

App scheduling consistently skips scheduled changes. The scheduling is the only reason to use the app. The energy usage tracking seems to be, at best, a guess and the energy score thing is a complete mystery. Energy score rates 3kwh/day as a 7 (out of what, I'm not sure but it's a a scary red color so I assume that's supposed to be bad). A comparable electric resistive model would easily use 4 times that for similar results, so I'm not sure what we're scoring here.
